Landscape Intarsia
Wood-relief composition, also known as intarsia, has been practiced for centuries in nearly every culture. Pam is now taking it in a new direction with her bright colors and stylized designs. Each of her pieces is a unique work designed and produced by Pam and her husband, Dennis. Pam develops a detailed drawing, which is transferred to woods of varying thickness and cut on a scroll saw by Dennis to create relief. These cut pieces are refined by Pam's carving and ultimately painted in bold and bright acrylics. An integral part of each piece is the custom frame built by Dennis as the finishing touch to the work. Lastly, a polycrylic finish is applied to complete the process.
